Umm, What about Apache? It is the single greatest and most enduring open-source application. I know someone is going to say Linux, but Linux is a kernel (or if you are myopic enough to call it an operating system), but it is not an application.
Apache (named after the last Native American tribe to succumb to the U.S.) is:
1) what the Internet is build on (on Linux, BSD, or Windows),
2) the most widely used server application on the ‘net (>60%),
3) and proof that open-source is not only viable but more productive.
How could you possibly not list this on a top 3, much less a top 19?

Actually, I believe that when the Apache web server first started it, there were updates so frequently it was called “A Patchy Server”, hence, Apache Server.
Every item on this arbitrary “top 19” list would probably make it onto a list of the top 100 CRM solutions. Nevertheless, what exactly is the value of a list as long as the criteria for making it onto the list is not known? SugarCRM is certainly a fine solution for lots of use cases, but if the list takes into account the number of installations you should probably add MS Outlook and MS Excel as even more people do CRM with those apps.
