He also drew in the moustache, because it was easier to see than a mouth in the crude video game screen resolution back then.<\/li>\n<li>Mario and his younger brother Luigi are known as the &#8220;Mario Brothers.&#8221; This means that Mario&#8217;s last name is also Mario, so his full name is Mario Mario.<\/li>\n<li>ario is voice-acted by Charles Martinet, who crashed the audition for &#8220;an Italian plumber from Brooklyn&#8221; character. Similarly, Luigi&#8217;s rival is Waluigi. Both are also voiced by Charles Martinet.<\/li>\n<li>Mario has appeared in over 200 video games so far, has sold over 193 million units of games (all of the Mario series) and even has his own TV cartoon show. Super Mario Bros. 3 alone grossed over $500 million in USA.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: left\">TV Schmeve, you&#8217;re nothing till there&#8217;s an opera done on you. It has inspired countless fan-renditions, including one played by Zack Kim on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neatorama.com\/2006\/03\/01\/zack-kims-super-mario-theme-song\/\">two guitars<\/a> (viewed over 4 million times on YouTube!), played by Jean Baudin on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neatorama.com\/2006\/08\/21\/super-mario-bros-on-an-11-string-bass\/\">11 string bass<\/a>, beatboxed by Greg Patillo on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neatorama.com\/2007\/02\/23\/greg-pattillo-beatboxing-flute\/\">the flute<\/a>, and played by the Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neatorama.com\/2007\/03\/22\/super-mario-theme-song-in-trombone\/\">the trombones<\/a>.\n<p>But my favorite is this one by Play! <a href=\"http:\/\/www.neatorama.com\/2007\/01\/29\/play-symphony-plays-video-game-theme-songs\/\">symphony<\/a> orchestra:<\/p>\n<p style=\"TEXT-ALIGN: center\"><embed src=\"http:\/\/video.google.com\/googleplayer.swf?docId=8169033819829939284&amp;hl=en\" type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" id=\"VideoPlayback\" flashvars=\"\"\/><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/video.google.com\/videoplay?docid=8169033819829939284\">Google Video Link<\/a><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mario is the most famous character in the history of video games, and perhaps is the most famous character ever.
